WSSM Churches Together

We would like to welcome you to our WSSM Churches Together Website. This is a combined website for the six churches in the villages of West Hallam, Stanley, Stanley Common and Mapperley, (WSSM), which are situated between Derby and Nottingham, to the west of the town of Ilkeston, Derbyshire.

This site is intended to provide communication and information, not only to our parishioners but also to those who are interested in our churches and villages. Of the six churches in the four villages, three are Anglican, two Methodist and one joint Anglican/Methodist. All six churches have joined together in a Covenant for Greater Unity. This Covenant is an agreement by the churches to plan and co-ordinate worship services, events and other activities that will fulfil the commitments of the Covenant, which in turn responds to a clear mandate from the participating churches.

This was an important milestone in the history of all six churches. Although three of the churches have had an agreement to work together for almost twenty years and all have worked together to some degree, this agreement will provide for a greater unity between the family of churches, to the benefit of all of the village communities. The rich traditions of our congregations and history of our churches gives us important responsibilities and opportunities within the life of our communities. Unfortunately, Stanley Methodist Church had to close in April 2015, so there are now only five churches in the Covenant.

On this page you are able to access information about the Covenant, our faith and our joint activities, within the churches and in the wider community. Select a church's picture on the right to access their pages or to return to their home page at any time from any other page on this site.
